What to know before your first visit

01. NEW PATIENT PAPERWORK

Before your visit, you will receive an email with information about the office and a link to the new patient paperwork. If you are able to fill the paperwork out prior to your arrival, it allows the doctors to review your health history before your appointment. We always have a paper version in the office for you as well!

02. WHAT TO BRING

We will take copies of your ID + Insurance card at your first appointment, in order to perform a complimentary insurance benefits check. If you don’t have your insurance cards with you, feel free to send a photo via text or email. If you have prior MRIs or X-Ray imaging, please bring those with you for the doctor to review!

03. WHAT TO WEAR

We see people every day in their regular street clothes as they go about their busy lives! We can work around dress clothes, suits, and dresses. We always have shorts for you, if needed. If you have the option, athletic-style clothing will be the most comfortable for your new patient exam.

04. APPOINTMENT LENGTH

The first appointment generally takes 45 minutes, if you were able to fill out the new patient paperwork prior to your visit. If you plan to fill out the paperwork in-office, please plan to arrive 10-15 minutes early to allow the full appointment time with the doctor.

Before your visit, our caring staff is here to help! We'll answer any questions or concerns you have – just ask!

THE DIAGNOSTIC TESTING WE USE

Digital X-Rays

An X-ray is a form of diagnostic imaging that takes pictures of bones, joints, and soft tissue within the body. We have in-house digital X-rays, which are an advanced form of radiography that instantly generates images on a computer. Digital images are highly detailed with better resolution and more clarity. X-rays use safe amounts of radiation and results via a radiologist are usually available within 1-2 days.

Your X-Ray images allow us to diagnose a broad range of conditions and create a custom treatment plan for you. We look for skeletal misalignment, loss of spinal curves, loss of disc space, hip imbalance, spinal degeneration, arthritis, scoliosis, and more!

These diagnostic tests work together to tell us how stress is impacting your overall health and well-being.
sEMG – Muscle Scan

The surface EMG scan, or sEMG, is a great diagnostic tool that allows us to measure the amount of muscle tension and imbalance between the left and right sides of the spine. It does this by using a device that measures the electrical signals produced by the muscles as they contract. sEMG is non-invasive, pain-free and uses a scanner that detects the electrical activity from the surface of the skin. A typical scan of the entire spine only takes about 2 minutes.

neuroThermal – Nervous System Scan

The Insight neuroThermal scans uses infrared technology to pinpoint stress and inflammation (subluxation) of your nervous system. It measures how your nerves are communicating with your muscles and organs, and how your body is adapting to stress. These scans help us pinpoint dysfunction in your nervous system beyond what can be felt in the body or seen on an x-ray.

They determine where and how severe the problem is, allowing for increased accuracy in diagnosis, treatment, and patient outcomes. neuroThermal scans are a computerized, non-invasive, and painless test consisting of a scanner that runs from your low back to the base of your skull. These scans take less than a minute and are safe to use for all ages, during pregnancy and breastfeeding!

WHAT IS THE NERVOUS SYSTEM?

The network of all nerve tissue within the body, including the central nervous system (the brain and spinal cord), and the peripheral nervous system (nerves that branch out from the spinal cord and connect to every tissue, gland, organ, and muscle in the body). A nerve transmits signals from the brain to every other part of the body, and in this way controls all functions in the body: the ability to move, breathe, see, think, and more. We live our entire lives through our nervous system!

The spine surrounds and protects the spinal cord and spinal nerves, and by treating the spine, chiropractors can remove interference in the nervous system. This allows signals to be passed to and from the brain unimpeded, allowing for optimal function. When the nervous system is free of stress and inflammation, the body is able to heal better, move better, digest better, sleep better, and live life to the fullest.
